Folks, Hope you had a great holiday season. We are back with a brand new 2010 with some great topics. We apologize for being rusty in sending this email out so late, but we will make up with some really cool giveaways.
There has been quite a lot of talk about virtualization recently, and most of the discussion is specifically about server virtualization. This is one of the most exciting trends in the industry and one that has the potential, over the next few years, to change the paradigm of how IT systems are deployed. But server virtualization will not only change how IT administrators and architects think about servers and system utilization, it is also going to affect the processes and tools used to manage what will certainly become an increasingly dynamic environment.
Microsoft has approached virtualization at several different levels, extending from the desktop to the datacenter with solutions for server virtualization, application virtualization, presentation virtualization, and desktop virtualization. The common thread across all of these is the management piece with Microsoft System Center. We are focusing on the server virtualization component and specifically on how Hyper-V, a key feature of Windows Server 2008, fits into the equation for a dynamic datacenter.

Speaker:
Joe Kelly has been doing IT work on an enterprise scale since 1997, and working on computers and in the “hobby” since I was 10 or so starting with an Atari XE PC. I have primarily been a consultant or an engineer at various companies over the years doing server admin, design, and migration work.
In the last year Joe deployed numerous Microsoft Hyper-V deployments as part of other migrations he was conducting. Based on this experience and interest in this field he recently switched roles in CDW and now am primarily handling technical presales and client discussion/demos relating to Hyper-V R2 and Management solutions.
